Foundation Church
Foundation Church exists to gather the family, grow into Christ, and give Jesus to others.
We started as a small group of believers wanting to gather in the model of Acts 2:42 (devoting themselves to the word, fellowship with the Body, breaking bread, and prayer).
We envision an intergenerational church family that is transformed by the gospel and loves Jesus in every aspect of life. A family that knows and gathers around the Word and prayer, is confident in hearing God’s voice, loves and builds up the Body of Christ, and is filled with gratitude. We envision this body moving at a family pace where all can fully engage. In a spirit of hospitality, we are moved with compassion to share Jesus.
Foundation Church is under the covering of the Midwest Ministers Fellowship (MMF), an organization of Pastors and Churches in the Kansas City Metro Area.
As of April 20, 2025, we meet in the gymnasium of the secondary building of Summit Christian Academy.

Statement of Faith
Section 1. Scripture
We believe Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments, is completely God-inspired. It is the holy revelation of God to all people and the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and practice that is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. (II Timothy 3:15-17; I Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 4:12; II Peter 1:21)

(II Timothy 3:15-17; I Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 4:12; II Peter 1:21)
Section 2. The Trinity
We believe that the one, true God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While being one God, each person of the Trinity is equal in deity, power, and glory. God is infinite in love, perfect in judgments, and unchanging in righteousness and mercy. We also believe that God created the universe and earth and now upholds, sustains, governs, and providentially directs all that exists. Ultimately, God will bring all things to their glorious consummation under the rule and reign of Jesus Christ. (Gen. 1; Ex 34:5-7; Ps. 104; 139; Isaiah 43:10-11; Mt. 10:29–31; John 1, 10:30, 14:9-10; John 17; Acts 17:24–28; 1 Cor. 15:27; Eph. 1:22, 4:4–6; Phil 2:6; Col. 1:16–17; Heb. 1:1-3, 2:8; 1 John 5:7).

Section 3. God the Father
We believe that the heavenly Father is the source of all that exists, whether matter or spirit. With the Son and Holy Spirit, He created human beings in His image, both male and female. By gracious intention, He relates to all people as Father, thereby forever declaring His goodwill toward them. (Gen. 1-2; Ps. 68:5; Isa. 40:28, 42:5, 43:15, 64:8; Mt. 5:45, 7:11; Luke 15:11-32; Jn. 1:1-18, 3:16-17; Acts 17:24-25, 28; 1 Cor 8:6; Rom. 8:15; Gal 4:1-7; James 1:17; 1 Pet. 1:17; 1 John 3:1)
Section 4. God the Son
We believe that Jesus Christ is the biblically-prophesied Messiah and the only, divine Son of God. He was eternally preexistent with the Father and Holy Spirit as the Father’s beloved Son, yet who, in human history, took on flesh and blood. Truly, He was and is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. We believe that Jesus was miraculously conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. During His life on earth, He performed miracles and healed multitudes. Eventually, He suffered greatly under Pontius Pilate, was mercilessly condemned and crucified, and agonizingly died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the forgiveness of humanity’s sins. We believe that Jesus was buried and, three days later, bodily rose from the dead. Several weeks later, He ascended to heaven and was exalted to the right hand of God the Father, where He now resides. As King of kings and Lord of lords, He is coming again to judge the living and the dead and to reign in righteousness and truth on the earth. (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Matthew 1:23, 14:13-21, Matt 28; Mark 5:21-43; Luke 1:31, 35, 3:22; Luke 24; John 1, 3:13, 16-17, 9:1-12, 10:38, 11:1-45, 17:1-5, 18-21; Acts 1:3, 9,11, 2:22, 31-33, 7:56; 1 Cor. 15; 2 Cor. 5:21; Eph 1:20, 4:8; Phil 2:6-11; 2 Tim 4:1; Hebrews 1-3, 4:15, 7:26, 8:1; I Peter 2:22; 1 John 1:1; Jude 5; Rev 2:8; Rev 4-5).

Section 5. God the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is divinely equal with the Father and Son. He is now in the world to convict people of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Throughout the Church age and now, Jesus Christ has baptized and is baptizing believers in the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit’s work, believers are also sealed as God’s own possession for the day of redemption. We believe that the Holy Spirit graciously regenerates, indwells, equips, and empowers believers for godly living and Christian service. To this end, we also believe that signs and wonders, as well as all the gifts of the Spirit as listed in the New Testament, are operative in believers today. These spiritual giftings edify the body of Christ and evangelistically bless those who do not yet know God. (Gen 1, Joel 2:28-32, John 14:26, 16:5-15; Acts 2:33, 1 Corinthians 2:10-16, 2 Cor. 1:21–22; Gal 3:14 Eph. 1:13–14; 5:18).
Section 6. The Fall of Humanity
We believe humanity was created good and upright, for in Genesis 1:27, God states,“God created humankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them” (NET). However, by voluntary transgression, Adam and Eve fell and thereby brought upon themselves not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. We believe that as a result of Adam and Eve’s catastrophic fall, all persons since that time have been and are sinners by both nature and choice. God has declared that all humanity has fallen abysmally short of His divine glory and, thus, is justly guilty and condemned before Him, completely unable to save themselves. Humankind’s only hope now is God’s gift of redemption through the saving work of Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:26, 27; 2:17; 3:6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:9-26, 5:12-19).

Section 7. Evil
We believe that Lucifer, originally a good angel, rebelled against God and won over a multitude of heavenly angels. Essentially, Lucifer, with his demonic hordes, were cast out of God’s presence and are now at work to establish his kingdom of darkness, evil, and destruction on earth. Also known as Satan and the devil, Jesus exposed him as a liar, the father of lies, and a source who endlessly tempts people to sin and deny God’s offer of salvation. We believe that Satan and his malevolent followers were judged and defeated at the triumphant death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Ultimately, God will cast him into the lake of fire which was prepared for him and his wicked angels. (Isa. 14:12–17;Ezekiel 28;Mt. 12:25–29; 25:41; Jn. 8:44, 12:31; 16:11; Col. 2:15; 2 Pet. 2:4; 1 John 3:8; Jude 6; Rev. 12:7–9; 20:10)

Section 8. Salvation
We believe that humanity’s only hope of redemption is gained through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Christ’s bloody sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead was and is sufficient to cleanse us from our sins. Indeed, salvation is not earned by our good works but gained solely by Jesus Christ’s mercy and grace which we respond to through faith and repentance. We believe that if one confesses the Lord Jesus and believe that He was raised from the dead, they will be saved. This done, the Lord Jesus Christ washes us in the water of regeneration and renews us inwardly in the Holy Spirit. We are now heirs of God with the hope of eternal life. We believe that the inward evidence of salvation is the direct, affirming witness of the Holy Spirit. The outward evidence of salvation is a life that exhibits righteousness and true holiness, and that bears the visible fruits of repentance. (Isaiah 53:4-6; Matthew 3:8; Mark 1:15, Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Acts 2:38, Romans 3:22-26, 5:1-2, 8:16-17, 10:9-13; Gal 5:22-23; Ephesians 2:8, 4:24; Titus 2:11-12; 3:5-7; 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 1:9)

Section 9. Sacraments
Communion
We believe that when gathered, believers should regularly participate in the eating of the bread and drinking the fruit of the vine which represents Christ’s blood and His body broken. This act is a remembrance of Christ and a proclamation of His sacrifice until He comes. We believe that although membership is not required to receive Communion, faith in Christ’s great sacrifice on the cross is necessary. Believers are instructed to examine themselves carefully before participating in this holy rite (Luke 22:19, 20; I Corinthians 11:23-29).
Baptism
We believe that after conversion believers are biblically instructed to be baptized in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In so doing, they proclaim they have surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and are fully committed to walk in humble repentance. We believe that water Baptism signifies being buried with Christ, dying to the unredeemed persons they once were, and being raised with Christ to walk in the newness of converted life. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38,10:47, 48, 22:16; Romans 6:3-4).

Section 10. Sanctification
We believe that sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and His Spirit in order to further the development of Christ’s character in us. It is through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that believers are enabled to live a godly life. (1 Thes 4:3, 5:23, 2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 2:11).

Section 11. The Church
We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through His Spirit. With the Church, God is fulfilling the Great Commission and His redemptive purposes on earth. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the Body of Christ and family of God. God has given the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry. We also affirm the importance of every believer being joined with and actively involved in the fellowship of the Church through a local church community that is dedicated to the study of the Word, worship, and prayer. To this end, women, no less than men, are divinely called and gifted to proclaim the gospel and do all the works of Christ’s Kingdom. (Acts 2:42; 1 Cor 12:12; Eph 4:11-16; Romans 12:4-8; Ephesians 2:22; Col 1:18)

Section 12. The Rapture of the Church and The Second Coming of Christ
We believe in the literal, second coming of Jesus Christ at the end of this age. At that time, He will return to earth personally and visibly to reign over the nations in His millennial Kingdom. We maintain that the Church will go through the Great Tribulation exercising great power and emerging victorious. At the end of the Great Tribulation, God’s Church will be raptured. The dead in Christ will rise first, and then those who are alive will be gathered together in the air. We also believe that no one knows the exact timing of the Lord’s return. Finally, we accept and advocate the salvation of all Israel which fulfills God’s Old Testament covenantal promise to Abraham. (Ps. 2:7–9; Mt. 24; Rom. 11:25–32; 1 Cor. 15:20–28, 50–58; Phil. 3:20–21; 1 Thes. 4:13–5:11; 2 Thes. 1:3–12; Rev. 7:9–14)

Section 13. The Final Judgment and the New Heavens and New Earth
We believe in God’s final judgment over all humankind. When Christians die, they pass immediately into the blessed presence of Christ Jesus, there to enjoy conscious fellowship with Him until the day of the final resurrection and the glorious transformation of their bodies. The saved will receive eternal rewards and forever dwell in blissful fellowship with the great triune God. The wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whoever is not found written in the Book of Life will be consigned to everlasting, conscious punishment in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. They will join there the devil and his angels, the beast, and the false prophet. For now, and according to God’s promises, we passionately long for the new heavens and new earth. (Matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; 2 Cor 5:1-10; II Peter 3:13; Rev. 19:20; 20:11-15; 21:1-4, 8)

Section 14. God’s Creation and Creative Order
We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. We affirm God’s specific creative order as stated in Genesis 1 & 2, in which He created humankind either male or female. We therefore do not recognize, indeed reject, the designations of homosexual, transgender, or any other deviation from God’s original creative design (Genesis 1:26-28, 2:22; Psalm 139; Matthew 19:4; Romans 1:18-32).

Section 15. Christian Marriage
We believe God established the biblical covenant of marriage between one biological man and one biological woman. We therefore do not recognize, indeed reject, any other forms of so-called marriage relationships. We thus do not participate in or perform wedding ceremonies that fail to meet these biblical guidelines. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5; Eph. 5:31-33, Hebrews 13:4).
